Livia Zaharia is a Romanian architect and parametric jewellery artist who uses script-driven, generative geometry to create nature-evoking wearable objects and installations. She works under the label Paral Design (Parametric Livia), translating computational architectural methods into intimate, research-driven, body-scale artefacts.
Her artistic identity sits at the intersection of three domains: generative art rooted in architectural parametric tools, speculative design for health and longevity, and experimental contemporary jewellery — exhibited at Romanian Jewelry Week every year since 2021.
Her tools include Grasshopper (visual programming for Rhino), COMPAS (computational architecture framework), and Python scripts for generative geometry. Digital models are 3D-printed, cast primarily in silver, and sometimes combined with natural materials — walnut husks, amber, quartz — through traditional metalworking.
Beyond her art practice, Livia is the founder of GlucoseDAO, a healthtech initiative building open-source tools for glucose prediction and metabolic health, including the Sugar-Sugar Game — a browser-based tool where participants predict blood glucose trajectories and compare their accuracy against ML models. GlucoseDAO operates in collaboration with Universitätsmedizin Rostock.
She is a contributor to the Longevity Genie open-source ecosystem, where her Materialized Enhancements project bridges physical artefact-making and computational biology. She is affiliated with HEALES (Healthy Life Extension Society) and has taught AI agentic workshops in bioinformatics.
Outside the studio and the lab, Livia is an avid swimmer — her proper stroke is crawl, and she is currently learning butterfly and monofin. She is also a dedicated hiker, with Jepii Mici being her favourite Romanian hiking route and the Predeal mountain race her favourite running event. She is obsessed with gemstones and with growing plants — passions that feed directly back into her nature-inspired parametric work.
